Voss og fjordane Guide service was established by Ingjerd Dymbe Anda in 1988 in Voss.
Ingjerd started as a tour guide for the famous roundtrip Norway in a Nutshell® in her late teens. As a student, she continued working for the tourist industry as tour leader onboard cruise ships along the coast of Norway during summer.
On her return to Voss, she worked as a teacher and founded Voss og fjordane Guide service in 1988. Well aware of the importance of good training for tour guides, she developed an extensive educational program. Right from the beginning, the aim was to provide professional guide services.
Voss og fjordane Guide service became rapidly the main supplier of guide services for shore excursions for cruise ships in the Sognefjord and Hardangerfjord regions.
When AHI or Alumni Holidays®, the premier operator of deluxe travel programs sponsored by American college and university alumni associations, included Norway in their travel programs, they chose Voss og fjordane Guide service as their Norwegian agent. Our company developed and was in charge of the week-long program for the Alumni Campus Abroad®, which featured seminars provided by local experts in Voss and included half day to day tours.
Voss og fjordane Guide service has also provided and administrated tour guides and train crew for the famous Flåm Railway and Norway in a Nutshell® roundtrip.
In 2004, Ingjerd Dymbe Anda was one of the four people who started Vossafjell, a specialized company in mountain activities offering a wide range of guided hiking tours. Then in 2007, after many years of cooperation, Vossafjell , Stalheim Hotell and Gudvangen Fjordtell started the company Heritage Adventures.
As a natural consequence, at the beginning of 2005, Céline Marrier became the manager of Voss og fjordane Guideservice. Ingjerd Dymbe Anda remained owner and chairman of the company.
Céline Marrier started as a tour guide for Voss og fjordane Guideservice, summer 1999, and became market coordinator for the company in year 2000. She has studied law and worked as a jurist in France before moving to Norway. Her 10 years of experience with Voss og fjordane Guideservice guarantees a continuity in the professionalism of the company!
In February 2009 International Travel Group (ITG) became a co-owner of Voss og fjordane Guide service. The company is now a part of a large corporate group together with four other guide companies covering the whole Norway and a bus company.
